About
Visualize K.K is an innovative company based in Tokyo, Japan led by an entrepreneur who has had multiple successful venture backed exits. In 2023 Visualize was a pre-seed company that had a new AI enabled concept: use the cell-phone camera to allow a user to measure their body parts as close to accurately as a measuring tape and then apply this technology in the fitness app space.
Visualize wanted to partner with BoldBetLab to craft a product strategy, roadmap and high fidelity, validated design so that they can stand out in the market as well as demonstrate value to Venture Capitalists to raise funding.
The challenge
The primary challenge for Visualize was differentiating their product enough to be 10x better than the competition in a market brimming with both offline and tech-based competitors that attempt to solve similar customer journeys.
The key question: How to make this AI technology not just cool, but indispensable, user-friendly, and engaging enough to prompt mass market adoption? The goal was to not just introduce another app that struggles to gain adoption due to lack of user appeal but to create a market-leading fitness app that demonstrates the power of AI technologies in the consumer technology market.
The work
Sim our lead product manager and Faith our lead designer partnered with world class AI engineers as well as the leadership of Visualize. We worked across the product & design spectrum.
Competitive analysis
A thorough market analysis was conducted to identify gaps among existing fitness apps and hardware products. This step was crucial in carving out a unique position for Visualize’s product as well as identifying key requirements for the AI technology that the engineers would need to design for to avoid failure in the marketplace.
Product strategy
We developed a product strategy, aligning the company’s vision with actionable features as well as hero metrics to optimize for. This included identifying key features, target audience, and key features for an entire app, not just the AI-enabled feature set.
UX design
The user experience (UX) was paramount to get right as if there was too much friction, users could always use one of the more mass market available hardware / software solutions. There were also a variety of competitors trying to do something similar that had struggled to produce a low friction user experience. Our team ended up crafting a ergonomically friendly design that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also intuitive with far less steps involved than the competition.
UXR testing & validation
Rigorous user experience research (UXR) testing was conducted on the concept to ensure the product met real user needs and could potentially stand out in the competitive market. This UXR testing was crucial for Visualize to approach investors to raise seed capital.
Help in raising capital
We provided strategic support in presenting the product to venture capitalists, highlighting its unique value proposition and market potential.
Outcome
Visualize K.K’s partnership is a testament to the value of partnering with BoldBetLab at the earliest stage of startups. By meticulously analyzing the market, crafting a user-centric design, and validating concepts, we were able to help position Visualize not just as another app in the crowded fitness space, but as a pioneer in AI-powered fitness technology. The collaboration did lay a strong foundation for future growth and helped Visualize successfully secure capital.
Key Impact
Product strategy, design & validation of the new app concept helped Visualize secure seed capital as well as layed the foundation for a high growth consumer app
“
Sim & Faith helped turn what was an initial idea into a fleshed out product as well as conducted testing on the idea that conclusively showed the strong interest in the market for the concept. This was game changing both for enabling our engineering teams as well as raising capital.
